Election Board Workers - Thank you for the many hours and efficient job at the polls. Your township tax dollars pay for the four workers in our precinct.

Roads - In the past our township has secured State Issue 1 and 2 grant monies to pave N. Chatham, S. Chatham, Timbuk, Dry Creek, Liberty Church, and .8 of a mile of Lafayette Rd., and all under road culverts through out the township. Our request is rated along with other township, cities and villages in a district consisting of 5 other counties just like Licking. Points are given in many categories including how many homes are serviced, average daily traffic count, what type of improvement is needed, and health and safety issues. The same amount of monies is available each year for the same district. However. the construction costs of the projects are increasingly higher due to higher fuel, stone and asphalt prices. These increased costs have let to fewer projects being funded but we continue to apply each year. The State Issue 1 project was completed in May which was .8 of a mile of Lafayette. Top coats of chip/seal were applied to one mile of Sunnyside Rd., a small portion of Riley, and Lafayette Rd. We are currently working on approximately one half mile of Lafayette preparing for chip/seal in the spring. Also please make sure your auto registration for car tags reflects that you live in McKean Township. $5.00 per tag issued to residents of McKean Township are used for road improvements.

Meetings - Township regular meetings for 2008 will be held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:30pm (May-Oct) and 6:00pm (Nov-April). Any changes or special meeting notices are posted in the township building window box and on the monthly calendar on the website www.mckeantownship.net.

Other Stats - There are currently 1521 residents in McKean Township with an average median household income of $48,672.00. Some of our 2007 township expenses were $7485.06 for fuel, $74088.95 for road materials, $5525.00 for mowing of cemeteries, $7022.04 for utilities, $162,783.68 for Fire/EMS services, and $3926.00 for insurance on grounds and building.

McKean Community Organization is a separate non-profit organization which none of your tax dollars support. All residents of McKean Township are considered members. They maintain the park grounds, building, and baseball diamonds with volunteer help that is always desperately needed. Their yearly events and building rentals help support their endeavors. Meetings are held at the MCO building on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm.
